Who is calling? The Jesus We Follow
Who is Jesus? In the Gospel of Mark, we find four statements about Jesus.
1. Jesus is the Divine Son of God (Mark 1:2-11)
2. Jesus is fully human (Mark 1:12-13)
3. Jesus has the power and authority of God (Mark 1:14-2:12)
4. Jesus points us to His cross (Mark 2:13-17)
Who is called? The Followers of Jesus
Consider Mark 2:17.
1. Jesus only call sinners to follow Him.
2. Sins are forgiven through Jesus who calls sinners.
3. Sin is not an excuse for not following Jesus.
“The claim to be a Christian is not a claim to be righteous, but it is a claim to be a sinner.”
“I am not good enough is no longer an excuse for not following Jesus.”
What is the call? The Nature of Discipleship
There is simplicity in Jesus’ call to follow Him. Following Jesus is not easy. There will be a pattern of follow Jesus, fall down, get up, follow Jesus, fall down, get up…
“Listen to one voice: the voice of Jesus. He is the one calling.”
