We believe . . .

. . . that every person at Grace can share in this calling through church membership, prayer, service, and financial contribution.

. . . that we are being called upon at this time to act on the opportunity before us and to give our resources to provide the physical space needed to expand our worship and disciple- making ministry.

. . . that God uses our material resources to advance his kingdom and to accomplish his purposes in the world. Our bodies, money, time, energy, and talents are given to him for his glory and the good of others.

. . . that God established Grace Community Church to be a local congregation in the greater Nashville area, and that he sustains us by graciously providing the spiritual and physical resources needed to carry out the Great Commission to make disciples and the Great Command to love one another.

. . . that God has called his people, the church, to be rightly related to him, and that he has given the church the mission to be engaged in the world to extend his grace and reflect his glory.

. . . that the future belongs to God and that he will glorify himself and all who by faith confess Jesus Christ as Lord.

Dear Congregation

How we give thanks to God for his grace and mercy by which he saved us from our sins and for his glory! We are grateful for Jesus Christ who redeemed us by his death, and for the Holy Spirit by whom we are born again to a living hope. Thanks be to God for the church that reflects his grace and glory on earth. And we praise God for every local congregation of Jesus’ disciples who live together in the bond of peace. With joy, these congregations gather to worship the Lord, encourage each other in the faith, and make disciples of the nations until Christ returns. To God be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus. Amen. (Ephesians 3:21)

It is our joy and honor to serve the congregation of Grace Community Church. We do not take our responsibility lightly. With prayer and the wisdom of God’s word we seek to lead our church forward

At this time in the life of Grace, the elders believe we are called to expand our buildings for ministry. The decision to recommend the Phase 3 building expansion to the congregation was reached after much prayer. We considered our current needs, the growth of our congregation, and our calling to provide for future ministry in a growing city.

We are encouraged by the strong affirmation from the congregation of this recommendation to build. We enter this building season with unity and a broad willingness to participate. This building phase will require prayer and giving from all of us.

The Future Grace giving campaign is designed to deepen our commitment to the vision of the church and the mission of Grace. We want to inform you about the new building and how it serves our mission. And we want to invite and encourage you to prayerfully consider how you will contribute to funding this new building during this campaign season.

Please take time to read through this brochure. You will see how our vision of the future, mission as a church, opportunity at this time, and plan to provide all work together to move us forward in hope. And please join us in prayer by using the Future Grace Prayer Guide designed for this campaign. Above all, pray for the gospel to spread and the church to grow through Grace Community Church.

Continuing the good work for the glory of God,

The Elders of Grace Community Church

PRAY FOR GOD’S GLORY THROUGH GRACE COMMUNITY CHURCH AS WE PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST TODAY AND IN THE GENERATIONS TO COME.

Our Vision of the Future

Christians are a future- focused people because we believe that the future belongs to God, and that it will be glorious because of what Jesus has done. Because of the cross of Christ, we are assured that glory awaits all who are in him.

While not claiming to know the specific events and circumstances that will be in our future, we do know that the future will include the continued advance of the gospel. The gospel will win hearts and minds to Christ. Congregations will be planted and existing churches will grow as God’s Spirit works in all parts of the world drawing people to faith in Christ. We know that grace will continue to extend to more and more people, increasing thanksgiving, to the glory of God (2 Corinthians 4:15). We know that Christ will return and will gather his redeemed people, having delivered them from all harm and death (Revelation 21:4).

We keep before us the vision of Christ being worshiped by people from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages (Revelation 7:9). We look forward to new life in a new body living in a new heaven and earth (Revelation 21:1).

This is the future, and we are moving toward it. As Christians and as a congregation we are pilgrims making progress by grace through faith. Therefore, we live steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that our labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). We, of all people, live with hope, for Christ in us is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).

So, what does this have to do with a new building and a giving campaign?
We are letting the vision of the future determine how we steward our resources today. What God is doing we are pursuing. All of the work of a local congregation envisions the glorious future when all the redeemed will worship the Lord.

PRAY FOR A GREATER VISION OF THE FUTURE TO SHAPE OUR LIVES AND OUR CONGREGATION IN A GREATER WAY, GIVING US A GREATER HOPE AND ENERGY AS WE LABOR IN THE LORD.

AS GRACE EXTENDS TO MORE AND MORE PEOPLE, THANKSGIVING WILL INCREASE, AND GOD WILL BE GLORIFIED. 2 CORINTHIANS 4:15

Our Mission as a Church

What is our work on earth as we wait for the glorious return of Christ? Jesus told us to make disciples of all nations. We are a mission-driven people. Congregations have a disciple-making mission called the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18–20). This mission comes with the authority of Jesus to do it, the vision of all nations to chart its course, the tasks of baptizing and teaching to guide it, and the presence of Jesus to keep it going.

Our mission is to bring grace to more and more people as we preach the gospel of salvation in Christ. We call all people to repent, believe, and follow Christ.

Our mission includes our life together as a community of believers. We are organized as a congregation, one of a myriad of congregations around the world. We worship Christ together. We gather ourselves around God’s word to let him search our hearts and guide our minds in truth. We encourage one another as we walk into the light of day, strengthening our hands for good works. As we live this way in our city, we extend to others the grace and truth of Christ and display the glory of God.

At Grace Community Church we are building spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. The people of Grace are weekly refreshed by our gatherings for worship and encouragement, and leave to carry out their daily vocation in service to God and others

Our mission reaches to the next generation. We teach “the sacred Scriptures which are able to give them wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15). We cast a vision of servant leader- ship and self-sacrifice to the generation to come.

We provide now for the future congregation that will come after us. We are on mission today for the health and growth of the church that is decades away.

PRAY THAT GOD WILL HONOR OUR DISCIPLE-MAKING TODAY WITH SPIRITUALLY HEALTHY PEOPLE FOR MINISTRY IN THE WORLD FOR GENERATIONS
TO COME.

THE WORD OF GOD CONTINUED TO INCREASE, AND THE NUMBER OF DISCIPLES MULTIPLIED GREATLY. ACTS 6:7

Our Opportunity at this Time

Christians and congregations are wise to ask, “What 115 opportunities for the gospel and the church are before us? What are the needs in front of us, doors open to us, and 110 resources available to us that show us the way forward?” People and churches have gifts and callings. As we steward them well, we can make the most of the moment we have.

At this time in the life of Grace Community Church, we have the opportunity to continue the good work we started in 2004 by building Phase 3 of our campus master plan.

WHAT ARE THE INDICATORS THAT THIS OPPORTUNITY IS TO BE PURSUED AT THIS TIME?

Grace has been worshipping Christ, proclaiming the gospel, making disciples, and sending people to serve in the world for twenty-five years. Our growth has been consistent and we continue to assist other churches and church plants. Continuing and expanding this mission requires building space for people to gather together.

We currently have a need for more space for worship and the discipleship of children and youth. Future growth will require additional and larger facilities to welcome new people.

The greater Nashville area is growing by approximately 36,500 people a year. Growing churches and new church plants will need more space for these people. Grace has the opportunity to expand its reach into a growing city.

Grace has available land at our current location for expansion. The master plan for our buildings has been approved for construction.

Grace is in a financially healthy position. The people of Grace give sacrificially. We have the financial tools of savings, a giving campaign, and bank financing available to fund new construction.

The congregation has strongly affirmed the recommendation to build the Phase 3
expansion. There is a willingness on the part of this generation at Grace to provide for today and for the next generation. After much prayer and consideration of these indicators, it seems wise to make the most of this opportunity as the Lord allows.
